Okay but in what order if any particular order?

As for what is SEO…in the simplest form for me it is the degree to which your online presence is found by people who need you but don’t know of you, because you are not their friend or business partner already.

If I don’t have a concern that many others find me, I imagine I won’t be concerned with SEO. But if I want to be found, I’d like to be found:

with ease
by the right prospects
consistently
so that new business opportunities
and allies

can find me then seek me out by email or phone

I realize I am a lover of old and new fangled ways of seeing business folks (resource and customer) get connected and however I can use SEO to accelerate word of mouth, the better!

Hi Deborah,

First, thanks for your comment.

“It is not just one of these that you must to, it is all of them. ”

Your first question is a good one and I expect many website owners face it all the time. SEO is really a marathon so first figure out which areas need help the most. Working on the 1 area that needs the most help will add benefits to the others increasing their strength as well. For instance if you know well that your content is keyword rich and pulls in visitors but you have few backlinks, then work on some back linking ideas first. Then re-evaluate. If your just starting out then market research and keywords are the foundation you want to build from.

I like your definition of SEO, the number of websites is not declining so I think you want to be found… Search Engine Optimization can certainly fulfill all of your requirements of how.
